Green by the Bay

LENGTH OF HIRE AND LATE FEES:

Subject to our discretion all sling loans are for 4 weeks, party kits are for 5 days, newborn kits 8 weeks, birth to potty kits 4 weeks, nappy pods 10 days, unless agreed prior to hire, they must be returned by 12pm on the day they are due for return, returns made after this will be charged the daily late fee. Unless agreed in advance between us and your hire items must be returned either to a scheduled library session or to Green by the Bay, 22 Marine Avenue, Whitley Bay, NE26 1NE by post or in person (opening hours 9:30-2:30 Mon-Fri) . To return outside of opening hour please get in contact for an agreed safe place to leave returns. Please ensure you’ve included your name, contact details and any late fees. Item(s) that are over a week late will be renewed on your behalf. 

HIRE FEES:

We accept cash, card payments or bank transfer for hires. 

We reserve the right to reduce or waive fee amounts for families in need. This is entirely at our discretion.

Fees start from £8. Other hire durations may be possible, please ask for prices.

DEPOSITS:

You will be charged a refundable deposit for party kit hires. 

LOAN TERMS:

All slings, cloth nappies or tablewares will be thoroughly checked by Green by the Bay staff before the loan. All hire items must be returned in the condition they were lent out in, any damages made by you resulting in loss of value will be charged at RRP.

We ask that you do not wash your sling without contacting us for instructions beforehand. Incorrect washing can result in loss of value. We are parents too and are used to the mess made by babies and toddlers, we don’t mind a little bit of muck. Please email or facebook message us for instructions if you really need to wash the sling. Cloth nappies should be washed following the instructions provided. Party kits can be returned dirty, a washing up service is included. Please don't be temped to put the party kit in your dishwasher.

Please do not ever smoke while wearing our slings. Let us know if you are a smoker or have pets. Do not microwave any party kit items.

All slings available for hire at the GBTB library are safe when used correctly. I will show you how to do this and/or direct you to instructions. It's your responsibility to ensure you follow the manufacturers instructions and GBTG cannot be held liable for any injuries arising from misuse.

Slings are not suitable for use when undertaking sporting activities or strenuous exercise, this includes activities like jogging, cycling or exercise classes of any kind but is not an exclusive list. As a general rule of thumb slings are best used in day to day situations where it would be possible to hold your child in your arms while undertaking the activity.

All items loaned to you remain the property of Green by the Bay library at all times, loans are subject to our discretion. Please do not loan to your friends and family. Please contact GBTB if you wish to switch the hire items to another user.

DATA:

Paper records are not kept of your membership details and hires. Paper sign in sheets are kept securely for 1 year and only used by Sarah Hopkins of Green by the Bay. Electronic records are kept securely for 1 year and only hold your name, address, hire records and electronic contact details. 

LENGTH OF HIRE AND LATE FEES:

Loans will be signed out for a period of 4 weeks at a time. If you wish to rehire you need do nothing, we will process the rehire on your behalf. This is subject to the following conditions:

-Up to a maximum of 12 weeks, at which point we need to check the sling over for insurance purposes.

- If the sling is in high demand I have the right to limit rehires to 12 weeks.
