Nosy babies, hip carries, sharing with another adult. Easy to narrow and widen. Simple design. 

Some people don't like this: 

They can be hard to fold, long shoulder straps are not always the best fit for back carries if you're petite. 
Buckles/webbing may put pressure on adults breast tissue in the early days. 
The panel is often outgrown before baby reaches the maximum weight.
