Some people like this for:

Newborns(No insert!) ,warm weather, hip carries, sharing with another adult. Simple design, very easy to use. Useful for those who have dexterity considerations.

Some people don't like this: 
They're sized (though each size fits a good range). 
Velcro can be a bit noisy. 

The panel is often outgrown before baby reaches the maximum weight.
